Buddy Aid Background

The need for an emergency services system like Buddy Aid became apparent after an increasing number of accidents occurred where motor vehicle accident patients, who had been rendered treatment while they were unconscious or unable to communicate, were being taken inappropriate medical facilities despite having the benefit of a medical aid or any other medical insurance, simply because paramedics had no way of knowing this crucially important information. 

These occurrences are unavoidable if there is insufficient identification to confirm a person's medical aid status and very few private hospitals will accept such a patient unless payment is absolutely guaranteed. The alternative is to take unidentified patients to the nearest government hospital which may not have the resources and/or facilities to treat these patients efficiently. Knowing nothing about their patient's medical history or possible conditions or allergies can also make paramedics' lives extremely difficult.

There exists an unfortunate public perception that paramedics can be uncaring or lack a sense of medical ethics. But the harsh reality is that paramedics are doing stressful work under intense strain. That is why Buddy Aid had made it our mission to try our utmost best to elevate this, and in doing so, help paramedics and their patients alike, in order to help save lives. 

People go on holiday and forget their very important prescription to life saving medication at home and when they need it, they realize they can not get the required medication without that prescription. Buddy Aid thought about that and created the facility where you or the chemist phones our 24/7 call center and we will fax it to the pharmacies or doctor.

With this knowledge, Buddy Aid again consulted paramedics nationally for their opinions and suggestions regarding an effective identification system. Based on these facts, we developed our Buddy Aid medical identification system using standard cell phone to assist EMS in identifying their patients. The system also allows the patient's next of kin to be notified immediately. With all of the above factors taken into account, the Buddy Aid system was created and it essentially became a system developed for paramedics.
